First Impressions - Lego Star Wars 'The Force of Creativity'

Article by Adam Ray

Lego has fans of all ages across the world. When the company started taking in other franchises in the 1990s, we got to see beloved scenes, characters, and vehicles immortalised in the brick. Now this year, we get to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Lego Star Wars in a way that shows the progression of ideas, to brick, to stunning models at hyperspeed.

The Force of Creativity by author Graham E Hancock is truly a sight to behold for fans of the brick, the Jedi, and both. Those in the Lego fan community know too well about Hancock's exploits in countless print publications and fan-zines about Lego. A master builder in his own right, and someone who has penned a lot of content. This might be his finest piece yet.

The hundreds of pages of encyclopedic goodness shows the progression of Lego Star Wars as a brand across its quarter century. Everything from its design philosophy, art direction, and even the concept to the finished timeline for some of their finest Lego sets.

It's a treasure to see how well loved and well crafted each Lego set is. Hancock has conducted detailed interviews in this officially licensed book. We get to really feel the progression as Lego has maintained their status as one of the greatest toy manufacturers in the world. From sets big and small, we readers can just feel the love singing from the paper.

There's more to the Lego Star Wars brand than just the bricks and minifigures. Don't forget that Lego Star Wars was their first smash hit game, after a fair few false starts in their past. We hear all about the initial concept and the design that lead to their choosing the silent protagonist and scene matching level design. Off the success of those games, came all their others, including Indiana Jones and Harry Potter to name a few. Even further still, their light hearted kids animation all started from the success of Lego Star Wars.
