DO IT, BUY THE BOOK- July, Challenge 2 Recommendations

By Fay Clark

I'm having a fantastic reading month at the moment. I hope you are all having the same! This one is going to be a super easy recommendation, cause it's all to do with Fantastic Universes.

Challenge 2 - Read something you discovered through Fantastic Universes.

Recommendation 1 - DCeased: Dead Planet by Tom Taylor. Find our review here. The survivors of the infected apocalypse that ravaged Earth in the pages of DCeased have found a haven on a second Earth. The Justice League rebuilt with new members--Damian Wayne, Jon Kent and Cassie Sandsmark--and for the most part, life is good. Until a faint signal is received that is coming from the planet everyone had fled five short years ago... Somehow Cyborg is transmitting a message--he survived, and there might be a cure! Suspecting a trap, but with too much on the line, the new Justice League must make their way home to the dead planet to see what awaits them and who is left to be saved!

Recommendation 2 - Sythe by Neal Shusterman. You can find it on this list. Thou shalt kill.A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery. Humanity has conquered all those things, and has even conquered death. Now scythes are the only ones who can end life—and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control. Citra and Rowan are chosen to apprentice to a scythe—a role that neither wants. These teens must master the “art” of taking life, knowing that the consequence of failure could mean losing their own.

Recommendation 3 - Wonder Woman : The Way of the Amazons by J.E. Bright. Read our review if you'd like. When Wonder Woman left paradise to journey to the modern world, she brought with her reproductions of the secret archives of her homeland of Themyscira. Wonder Woman: The Way of the Amazons is a fascinating collection of history and artifacts from Diana’s homeland, which unlocks the mysteries of the Amazons and their hidden island with stunning original illustrations, and wondrous special features including pages that open up, removable treasures, and more. Get a rare glimpse into Amazon traditions and explore their lush and beautiful home, including the exotic bestiary of mythical creatures, kangas, and more. Then follow Diana as she shares her personal tale of entering the modern world and grow from a young Amazon Princess to become Wonder Woman.

Recommendation 4 - Doctor Who: Missy #1 by Jody Houser. Our review of this ongoing series can be found here. Missy wages war on the Doctor, but this time she’s not alone! Can the combined brilliance of the Third and Twelfth Doctor avert her deadly scheme, or will she get her hands on a secret weapon capable of wreaking havoc on the universe? This special story, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Master’s first appearance, will feature more Doctors and Masters than ever before.

Recommendation 5 - The Vision by Tom King. We have an ongoing fan retrospect about this work and it is super in depth! Vision wants to be human, and what's more human than family? So he heads back to the beginning - to the laboratory where Ultron created him as a weapon. The place where he first rebelled against his given destiny and imagined that he could be more - that he could be a man. There, he builds them. A wife, Virginia. Teenage twins, Viv and Vin. They look like him. They have his powers. They share his grandest ambition - or is that obsession? - the unrelenting need to be ordinary. Behold the Visions!

Well there we have it. All these magnificent things and more can be found here on our website! I hope you enjoy reading them and even reading our posts about them!
